About this Anchorage
This was a very welcome stop on arrival from the Gambier Islands. Easy access from the open ocean and close to Chacao channel. Best night sleep in a long time.
Expect Faro Corona to call you and ask for your details when you arrive. They will announce tide and weather information periodically too.
Arriving from the west in strong swell creates quite big waves, they weren't breaking, but were quite intimidating on arrival.
This is a good anchorage to wait to enter canal Chacao, low tide was at 3.50am, and I left here around 3am, which put me at the entrance of the channel just as the tide started to turn.
Anchoring Notes
Anchor in 5M over gravel. The easiest anchorage for me was just to head west towards the estuary and drop the hook when i felt i was far enough along the shore to get some protection. I wasn't staying long, and conditions were ok so didn't probe much.
The RCC and Italian books both mention you can go into the estuary for better protection from N weather if needed.
