About this Anchorage
Estero Cahuelmo is a beautiful anchorage, with hot springs, hiking, and a fantastic view littered with waterfalls and natural beauty. It is however not the best anchorage, and care must be taken with the weather.

That said, we had two glorious days here. Ashore there are some natural hot springs on the south side of the river, about half a mile in. The water was piping hot, and there is a great view out over the lake and estuary.

On the other side, there is a trail going up to the lake a few km inland.

Anchoring Notes
We picked up one of the mooring balls, in the caleta on the north side of the sand spit. The Italian guide mentions anchoring just west of this, but we couldn't find anything shallow enough for our anchor to touch bottom that was far enough from shore.
On the eastern side of this bight, you can anchor or pick up one of the moorings and tie to shore.
Nobody charged us for the use of the moorings, but in summer season, I'd expect these to be reserved for tour boats.
