Punta Chivato is a good north weather anchorage at the north end of Bahia Conception. Like Santo Domingo to the south, this makes a good jumping off point to cross over to San Carlos, and is also a good overnight spot if you want to visit Mulege in the morning.
Protection from northerly wind and swell is excellent, there's a long sandy beach ashore, with plenty of shells if you like beach combing.
We've only spent a couple of nights here because some muppet donated his wifi dongle to king neptune, which resulted in a bash into 25kn winds up to Santa Rosalia. One thing I can say is that you'd never have guessed it was blowing that hard from the anchorage.
Anchoring Notes
Anchor in 15-25ft over sand anywhere in the bay - it can be quite a busy anchorage so take care if entering after dark as we've had a few unlit boats sneak up on us when entering here - they can be hard to see due to lights ashore.
