Puerto Escondido (Marina) - BCS, Mexico

Puerto Escondido is a full service Marina with mooring balls located just south of Loreto. The facilities are top notch, with amazing showers, a well equipped cruisers lounge, and helpful and friendly staff. It is also a hurricane hole, and protected from almost all weather and sea.

It is not a budget marina, and you can expect to pay top rates for a slip here, so most cruisers will elect to take a mooring ball, which are reputed to be well maintained. Generally speaking you will take any white float which is numbered and available. You can whatsapp them in advance to check availability, which they generally have plenty of unless there's a sport fishing event or hurricane/storm coming.

Ashore there are some nice hikes up an arroyo, a small tienda, restaurant, pool, etc, and of course the cruisers lounge with wifi and air conditioning.

The only real downside of Puerto Escondido is its location, there is no bus service into Loreto, a taxi will cost you a kidney each way, so you either have to hitch (not so hard) or rent a car, the marina have a special rate with Alamo which will have a car delivered to the marina, for 50 USD a day including insurance, which is cheaper than two taxi rides into Loreto.

Loreto is generally your best option for provisioning nearby, but Insurgenties and Cuidad Constitution (and even la paz) are your better options if you need parts or repairs.

Anchoring is now prohibited in both the 'waiting room' and Puerto escondido itself - you're only option is either in the open roadstead to the south (Probably need API approval) or over in Danzante.

Best option is to pick up a mooring in the mooring field, and stay a week which or longer which gives a more favorable rate.
