About this Anchorage

Puertecitos is a poorly protected anchorage in between the enchanted islands and San Felipe. Ashore there is a small grocery store, intermittant fuel, and some hot springs.

Unfortunately when we attempted to overnight here hoping to catch a hitch into San Felipe for some supplies, the wind was coming strong out the south which made the anchorage untenable for us.

We see this primarily as a lunch stop type affair in good weather, but it certainly has potential. Multihulls and shore draft vessels can possibly enter into the bay proper which may offer more protection.

Anchoring Notes

We found 15-25 ft over sand just south of the entrance to the bay. This is exposed to the south, but would offer some northerly protection, it was deep fairly close to shore.

You can also anchor just outside the entrance of the bay in 15-20ft over sand, however it shoals quickly. The tidal range here is around 15ft so care must be taken when entering to ensure you don't get stuck.
