We love Isla Animas because of the snorkeling and remoteness, however anchoring here is not great, and in most conditions you'll end up at Salsipuedes and motor over, however there is one anchorage here which is marked on Charlie's Charts.
The cruising guide mentions this as a beautiful white sandy bay, but don't get your hopes up, there's a sandy beach, but the bay itself is too shallow to get close in for any real protection.
That said, we come here primarily because the snorkeling on the north side of animas is outstanding, we usually see a lot of rays, some octopus, as well as the usual fishies. There are a bunch of sea caves, and mini-fjords which make for a great day exploring too.
Anchoring Notes
Before coming in here, make sure you understand where the various hazards are. The gap between Isla Salsipuedes and Animas has a bunch of rocks, and reefs. We did not find any really detailed charts of this area or even the anchorage itself, so caution is advised.
We enter from the south, staying midway between the sea lion rock and shore, going dead slow in calm conditions, then turn into the bay. Its shallower than we hoped, but we dropped the hook in 20ft over sand.
