Ensenada de la Gallina (Isla Espíritu Santo) - BCS, Mexico

The southern most lobe in a large three lobed bay is a good spot in southerly weather. There's good protection from southerly wind, although not so much for the coromuel winds which can pick up here at night.

There's not much going on in the bay itself as the bay shoals quickly which can make a dinghy ride ashore a chore, but its a good location to check out the islands nearby which have excellent snorkelling. It's a good base for getting over to Isla Ballena too.

In northerly weather pick the northern lobe for best protection. In a coromuel you can tuck in behind the islands here but be careful where you drop the hook as its rocky in places. Alternatively you can tuck in behind isla ballena or go up to partida.

In summer the bees here can be a bit obnoxious.

Anchor in 15-20 ft of water in the center of the bay - in southerly weather tuck up close to the cliffs for the best protection. There's quite a pronounced wind shift here between wind coming through the Lorenzo channel, and the prevailing wind in the rest of the bay, if its not favorable here, try a few hops north.
