About this Anchorage

Cabeza del Mechudo is a wide bay on the west side of the southern end the san jose channel. It's a pretty bay with a small fishing camp and light on the south shore. There's a good view out onto Isla San Jose, and Isla San Francisco.

With good protection from the west this is a nice option if you are concerned about evening Coromuel winds, there is also reasonably good protection from the south, however swell does tend to wrap around if its from the south east. (Which it usually is)

In strong southerly winds you are better off on the north side of Isla San Francisco, or Bahia Amortajada.

Anchoring Notes

Anchor in 15-20ft in the middle of the bay, there are sometimes mooring balls for the pangas so make sure you aren't anchoring in the way of those, but otherwise its straight forward.
