About this Anchorage

Bahia San Marcial offers excellent protection from the prevailing northerlies, a beautiful hike up onto the cliffs with a wonderful view out to sea, and excellent snorkeling in calmer weather on the nearby reef.

We far prefer this bay to Agua Verde, its less crowded for one, and we like the red sandstone cliffs, the hike, and the snorkeling options. Agua verde offers easier protection from all weather, but we often tuck in here instead.

In really bad weather you can tuck right up into the corner passed the tip of the reef which gives excellent protection from the swell, but the wind will funnel down, the holding is good however.

On shore there are some nice walks along the beach, and some tracks you can explore too.

Anchoring Notes

Anchor in 15-20ft off the beach, in bad weather tuck yourself in as close as you can, and you'll get out of the swell. Holding is good, but be aware of the submerged reefs nearby.

The bay, and surrounding area have a number of dangerous rocks and reefs, so be sure to check your charts prior to entering the area.
