Bahia Dunes (Isla Tiburon) - Sonora, Mexico

The bay of the dunes is an excellent southern anchorage on the north side of Punta Willard on the south west edge of Isla Tiburon.

When I arrived it was gusting 20 knots as I rounded Punta Willard, but this was quickly diminished once along the north side. The anchorage itself is picturesque, with a nice dune back drop, and rocky reefs on either side.

The only downside here shortly after Hurricane Kay was that the jejenes and other bugs were ferocious which meant we didn't linger on the beach, which looked like it had a bunch of nice trails.

Snorkeling off the reef, and all the way along towards the other bay to the west was excellent, and we were accompanied by a five or six sea lions who where fishing and playing in the water too.

Anchor in 15-20ft over sand off the beach. Be aware of the six foot tide in this bay so don't get too close, and also watch out for the off lying rocks (mostly visible) on the east end of the bay, as well as the reef jutting out from the point.
